Tim Miles is an Owner and Partner at Sierra Miles Group, the Reno-based managed IT, cybersecurity, and compliance firm he co-founded in 2015. He brings 25+ years of IT and technical experience to every engagement.
As Technical Lead, his infrastructure work spans the full Sierra Miles client base — from healthcare network design to multi-site cloud migrations.
In 2021, Tim was recognized as NCET Technologist of the Year for his engineering contributions across Northern Nevada.
Tim brings more than 28 years of hands-on SonicWall and network-security practitioner experience to every engagement — the kind of practitioner depth that only comes from building, breaking, and rebuilding real client networks over decades.

Tim directs Sierra Miles’ cybersecurity practice and serves as the strategic technical bridge for executive-level MSP stack and tool-evaluation decisions across the firm.
Daily Vulnerability Scanning
Tim leads SMG’s daily vulnerability-scan program using Ivanti Connect Secure across every client environment, turning continuous scan output into prioritized remediation work for the security team.
Cyber-Insurance Compliance Audits
Tim owns the cyber-insurance compliance audit cycle for clients — initial penetration-test scan, remediation, and re-verification — helping clients keep their cybersecurity insurance policies in force.
Internal Security Team
Tim directs Sierra Miles’ internal two-person security team, staffing and coordinating the day-to-day cybersecurity work that protects every client.
Quarterly Business Reviews
Tim leads all client Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), serving as the primary technical strategist who sits across the table from clients to set the next quarter’s roadmap.
